SUCCESS
Congratulations to Thokozile
Munthali who has been studying Agriculture at the University
of Malawi with the help of a Soko Scholarship. Thokosile has graduated
with Distinction – one of just nine Distinguished Students in the whole college. On the strength of this success
she has been awarded the first ever Cordiner Scholarship for postgraduate study, to complete a Master’s degree in Nutrition.
VISIT
In October 2006, Lindsay Graham, Secretary to the Soko Fund, paid a 10 day visit to Malawi. This was more extensive than her first visit on behalf of the Trust in
summer 2003. As well as renewing personal contacts at the Universities of Livingstonia and Malawi
she had an exploratory meeting with the University of Muzuzu. Most importantly, she was able to meet current and former Soko Scholarship holders,
and see them at work and learn more of their stories. For a full report on her trip with pictures see secretary's report.
ALTERNATIVE GIFTS
Many charities offer Alternative Gifts for Christmas, Birthdays, Weddings, Anniversaries and other special occasions.
The Soko Fund has now introduced a similar scheme. For details see Give an Alternative Gift.
